Mr McCormick writes: “Yesterday, our Year 8 and 9 Gaelic footballers took part in round 1 of the Éamonn Burns Cup against St Patrick's Banbridge. The boys had won one of the competitions last year and were keen to impress ahead of next year's Ulster Schools competitions.
Shimna started brightly and raced into a early lead. St Pats found it hard to break down the defence of Jack and Leo, with Brady in goals, so had to settle for points on a number of occasions. At the other end, the Shimna boys including Craig, Fionn and Ryan were ruthless in front of goal and converted both goals and points. In the end, although both sides finished with a similar number of scores, Shimna's were mainly goals which handed them the win on the day.
We remember our former Colleague Éamonn on this day. No doubt he would have enjoyed the Gaelic football on display from both sides.”
Shimna panel today:
Brady, Jack Wa, Leo, Gerry, Jack Wh, Conor B, Conor A, James, Alfie, Fionn, Ryan, Craig, Dylan, Dara, Alex, Ronan
