Credit to the fifteen Shimna students who are currently participating in the Education Authority’s Horizons Project - https://www.eani.org.uk/horizons
This superb programme provides opportunities for students to lead and run a Community Social Action Project, to gain an OCN qualification in leadership and to access local knowledge around entrepreneurship.
Their involvement has included participation in a Youth Conference at the Burrendale Hotel, meetings with local politicians, a team-building residential and a summer camp in Donegal. Plans are afoot for a trip to France next year.
This year, the local Youth Council has chosen to focus on 3 themes: Education & Life Skills; Mental Health & Isolation; and the Environment.
Students interested in joining are encouraged to speak with Mr Milligan
