Fund-Raising For Shimna

Shimna was founded through the efforts of local parents/guardians, and the annual parental contribution continues to make a much appreciated addition to the facilities we can offer all our students. We ask for a minimum of £30 per family. If you are a tax payer, and it convenient for you to make your payment by plastic card, you can click for Giftaid, which means that our Charities Aid Foundation account will be able to reclaim the tax you have paid and our students will benefit even more. To make your donation please use the green button on this page.  If you run into any problem paying by this method, please do get in touch (phone: 028 437 26107) so that we can sort out the problem.  Parental contributions are also very welcome by cheque and in cash.  Shimna also appreciates the generosity of friends and old scholars, and would be delighted to receive their donations through the Donate to Shimna button.

Shimna was founded by parents, and the support of parents and guardians is central to everything we do. The Parent Council was formed in the first year of the school's existence, and parents/guardians have ever since been providing practical help in terms of tea and biscuits at consultation evenings and fundraising which has benefited many subject departments in the school.

However, the Parent Council plays its most vital role in sustaining their involvement in our policies and procedures.  Every parent/guardian is a member of the Parent Council, and takes part in regular surveys.

Recent examples have been: school uniform policy; how learning and teaching can best help our students; the SEELB Area Based Plan; our Development Proposal to grow; our College Development Plan; our Relationships and Sexuality Policy. Every parent/guardian of a student at Shimna is a member of the Parent Council.
