Summer Schemers make the most of the glorious weather

Extraordinary international success for gifted Year 9 artist
One of the standout highlights this year has been the extraordinary success of Jack, a gifted student in Year 9. He was one of 23 young artists selected from more than 600,000 participants worldwide as a Merit winner in the Lions International Peace Poster Contest. In addition to receiving a cash prize of $500, Jack’s winning entry, which was chosen as Ireland’s entry, was displayed in New York at the annual “UN meets the Lions Day” in New York. Silver linings as students battle through intense heat of expedition
The last weekend of the school year saw twenty-five Year 12 students gather in Kilbroney Forest Park to begin a three-day trek through the Mournes to Shimna. Each of the four groups tackled both challenging routes and intense heat, with hydration proving crucial throughout. Groups made their way out of Kilbroney via a mix of Ulster Way sections and higher forest paths, before passing through a checkpoint at Leitrim Lodge.
