On Friday, the Shimna Amnesty International Group hosted Fiona Doran from United Against Racism. The students raised their concerns about recent racist riots taking place in towns across Northern Ireland, debated why this might be happening and discussed what could be done to counteract hate speech. Fiona talked about the importance of activism in challenging the anti-immigrant narrative and commended the Shimna Amnesty group as a 'beacon of hope in light of what has been seen this week.’
