The U16 boys started their Bernageeha Cup campaign with a qualifying blitz at the Henry Jones Playing Fields.
In the first game against Lagan College, Shimna raced into a lead with early goals from Dara McGrath and Nathan Kelly. We kept control of the game throughout the first half go in at time with a comfortable lead. Shimna made numerous changes in the second half and stayed on top, with further goals and points from Ronan Grant, Darragh Smyth and Max Emerson.
In the second game Shimna faced a stronger St. Colman's, Ballynahinch side. Perhaps tired from the previous game, we did not play with our usual speed or accuracy and St. Colman's ran out as victors. Best from Shimna were Tom Heaney Sloan, Fahlin Murphy McKibben and Darragh Smyth, with youngest player Ryan McCullagh also impressing.
We can now look forward to an Ulster quarter-final but know minutes on the training field will be needed to advance.

The boys extra-curricular sports programme continues after Halloween:
Monday: Gaelic - Seniors ( Year 10-6th Form )
Tuesday: Rugby - all year groups
Wednesday: Gaelic - Juniors ( Years 8-10 )
Thursday: Football - all year groups
