Celebrating European Day of Languages at Shimna
A huge congratulations to everyone who took part in our European Day of Languages celebrations.
Our Year 8 and 9 students showed off their creativity with our European badge and poster-making competitions, while Year 10 put their knowledge of all things European to the test in an exciting table quiz. Our celebratory assemblies gave us the opportunity to hear our talented students speaking in other languages and to celebrate the wonderful diversity of languages and cultures within our Shimna community.
One of the highlights was our European Bake Off. Our students produced a mouthwatering array of buns and cakes, which proved a huge hit at break time. Together, we raised an amazing £236 for our chosen charity, Conway Education in Belfast. This money will help support migrant families and their children as they navigate new challenges and access the support they need.
A huge thank you to everyone who participated, baked, bought treats and helped make our celebrations such a success. Together, we celebrated not only the languages we speak, but also the diversity, inclusion and community spirit that make Shimna special.
