As usual, Activities Week has provided a great opportunity for our students to do good work in the community. It’s an opportunity to make good on our commitment to instil a sense of social responsibility by giving something back.

This week, activities have included the collection of 18 bags of rubbish collected from the litter pick on the beach. Thanks to Kathy Black for providing the bags and hi-vis jackets.

There was also time for preparing vegetable beds for next year. We hope to have three vegetable beds outside the greenhouse. Watch this space for next year’s harvest! A good lot of weeding was also done along the way, as well as the repotting and maintenance of our indoor plants.

Students also heard talks from Danielle Begley on biodiversity and mini beasts; Anna Murtagh on marine biodiversity; and Noel Lyons on waste management.

A massive thank you to Mr Dagen and Mr Milligan for organising such a great week, and to Ms McCann and her team for overseeing the community action programme.
