CyberFirst Silver Success Celebrated at Shimna

Ms Mathieu, Head of Maths & ICT writes: “Shimna was proud to welcome Sara Lyons from CyberFirst Schools to celebrate a major milestone: the presentation of the CyberFirst School Silver Certificate, recognising the school’s growing commitment to cyber education and digital safety.

The day began with Year 13 students taking part in an engaging bursary information session, where they explored exciting opportunities in digital technology and further education. Additional students joined in to benefit from the advice and resources shared.

The highlight of the day was a working lunch with the IT Department, during which the CyberFirst Silver Certificate was officially presented. The team also discussed Shimna’s Cyber Action Plan, outlining practical steps to embed cyber safety into everyday learning across the school.

In the afternoon, Year 14 students attended a session focused on access to bursaries and advanced digital courses.

It was a fantastic opportunity to celebrate achievements, share knowledge, and inspire students to take the next step in their digital futures.”
