Today marked a historic occasion, with the first competitive school match at our new Donard Park ground, a junior girls’ football match. It was a tremendous debut, with a 6-0 victory over a spirited Blackwater team.
Led by team captain Sophie, who was dominant in centre midfield, it was a true team effort, with our squad made up of students from Years 8, 9 and 10. Eight of them were drawn from Year 8, which underlines the strength in depth in our ranks. This included Katie, who grabbed a spectacular first-half hat-trick. In the second half, goals from Sienna, Sophie, and Issy doubled the tally.
Player of the match was Issy. As well as scoring, Issy laid on four assists in a truly outstanding performance.
This is a great start to the girls’ season and we look forward to exciting challenges that lie ahead.
