A massive congratulations to fourteen of our Year 11 boys who kept the bike going all through the school day to raise funds for local charity, The Well.
The boys rode hard for half an hour each, clocking up a total of 157.32 km in just over 6 hours, the equivalent of the journey to Dublin, with a few km to spare.
Roll of honour, in order of their rides: Fahlin Murphy McKibbin, Max Emerson, Cal Crothers, Benjamin Cummins, Darragh Ruddle, Dominic Regan, Kenzie Russell, Christopher Franklin, Robbie Millar, Austen Bennett, Sean Paul Hanna, Cory Brady, Kayden Matthews and Elliot Walker. Mr Dagen also chipped in a few extra kilometres at the end - although his stats could not be verified by the official time-keeper!
It proved to be a wonderul day, seeing the boys pull together and encourage each other. Austen Bennett was the top rider, clocking up 12km in 30 minutes. Sean Paul Hanna was also recognised by staff for his great effort. We also enjoyed Dominic’s comment that “this is gonna be easy.” Funnily enough, he wasn’t saying that half an hour later!
Principal Steve Pagan said: “We’re very proud of our boys efforts today. After a lot of thought, they chose the charity for themselves and clearly wanted to make a positive contribution. It’s very inspiring to see just how much they - and all of our students - can achieve once they put their minds to it.”
In terms of fundraising, the boys have surpassed all expectations, more than doubling their target amount. If you would like to contribute, click on the link to support this fantastic effort - https://www.zeffy.com/en-GB/donation-form/charity-fundraiser-for-the-well
Thank you to Sarah-Jane and Sinead from The Well for coming along to support the boys - https://thewellhub.net/. Our local parish priest Father Jim Crudden also popped by to wish the boys well.
