Gabriel spreads the word of beautiful mathematics

On Friday, we were delighted to welcome past student Gabriel Corrigan, home on a short break from his PhD in Mathematics at Glasgow University.

Ms Conn writes: “Gabriel delivered an interactive and thought-provoking lesson on Möbius strips to some of our budding Year 9 Mathematicians - expertly assisted by his younger brother and Head Boy, Oliver. The students gained a wonderful insight into the beauty of some really cool mathematics!”

 Postscript: If you’re curious, a Möbius strip is a looped surface with only one side and only one edge. The strips have inspired mathematicians, artists and scientists in a variety of fields through the ages.
