Earlier today, our Year 11 GCSE Food & Nutrition students attended a Hospitality Roadshow, organised by Springboard NI at the Slieve Donard Hotel.
It was a great opportunity to explore the many and varied career opportunities across the sector. The programme included of a mocktail making class, sensory taste testing session, a tour of the refurbished hotel, a hospitality session including sliver service, Tourism Northern Ireland in which the students got to experience the VR headsets.
Our students also enjoyed a careers scope talk with guests including Shane Neary, owner of NearyNogs Chocolate Factory; Paul Cunningham, Local Chef, who also has been on the Great British Menu; and Hazel Magill, Slieve Donard Head Chef.
It was great to catch up with past student, Lewis McClelland, who is training as a chef in Downpatrick SRC and working with Gemma Austin, who also appeared on the Great British Menu.
Mrs Forsythe said, “We had a fantastic time and, as always, our students were great ambassadors for the College.”
