Two expeditions ran over the weekend as part of the Duke of Edinburgh / President’s Scheme.
Five Year 14 students set off from Kilfeaghan Road in Rostrevor early on Saturday morning. Following a wild camp along the Rocky River and a night at Meelmore Lodge, (not to forget almost 50 km walked), they finished at The Galley in Annalong for a well earned fish supper! A well planned route indeed!
Twelve Year 12 students trekked two separate routes through the Mournes on Sunday and Monday with one group camping in Carrick Little and the other at Meelmore. Thankfully, after the heavy rain of last week all the students enjoyed much better weather and finished in good time on Monday back at school.
These expeditions bring down the curtain on a successful 2023 for the programme at Shimna. Roll on 2024!
