Penalty heartbreak for U14 Boys’ Football

Our U14 boys have been eliminated in the quarter-finals of the South Down Cup by Dromore High. The boys took the lead with a great team goal, finished off by Callum Simmons. Against the run of play, Dromore equalised just before half time.

Shimna started the second half brightly and Charlie Ward restored our lead from a Callum Simmons cross. Dromore fought back again and equalised with 5 minutes to go, sending the game to extra time. There was no further score, which meant penalties decided the tie. Alas, Shimna went down 5-4.

Overall, it was a highly competitive game between two well-matched teams - and an important lesson for the boys. The game isn’t over until the final whistle.
