As the only PASCH school in the country, Shimna Integrated College hosted the German Careers Roadshow UK, organised by the Goethe Institut in London. The prestigious PASCH school status was awarded in 2020 by the Goethe Institut, at a celebration attended by the then First Minister Arlene Foster and the German Embassy in recognition of Shimna Integrated College's work in promoting German and languages.
The German Careers Roadshow was attended by the Goethe Institut London, DAAD, NICILT and a number of exhibitors.
NI schools travelling to Newcastle to attend the event included: Campbell College, Our Lady and St Pat's and Regent House.
Grace Susay, Head of Languages says, 'We were delighted to be asked to host this important event and to highlight the importance of learning German. Germany is a valued trading partner of both the UK and Ireland and learning German has huge economic and cultural benefits. The students gained valuable insights at the Roadshow into the career opportunities that learning German gives them."
