Shimna runners warm up for cross-country season

On Monday, Shimna runners gained some valuable experience ahead of the Down Schools’ Cross-Country Championships in January. Competing against St. Malachy’s HS and Lismore Comprehensive, stand-out performances from the Shimna team included

• Ellie Moore winning the Year 8 girls’ race, with Abby Scannell 8^th, Eirin Irvine Brook 9^th and Molly O’ Connor 10^th

• In the Year 8 boys’ race, Darragh Scannell finishing 9^th

• In the Year 9 girls’ race, Talia Lennon and Sophia Campbell coming 6^th and 8^th respectively

• Jamie Magee winning the Year 9 boys’ race, with Ryan McCullough runner-up and Finn Murphy 9^th 

• Ester Stannett finishing 3^rd and Aoife Grant 4^th in the Year 10 girls’ race

• Daniel O’ Connor coming 10^th in the boys’ race
