Shimna student joins Premiership club

Congratulations to Year 12 student Calum Simmons who recently joined NIFL Premiership club Crusaders. Calum has been selected to play for the U16 side and enjoyed a tremendous debut a fortnight ago in the 6-1 victory against Portadown, with an assist and a goal from the penalty spot. Last weekend, he continued his fine form, scoring from thirty yards in a 4-0 victory against Dungannon Swifts. Crusaders U16 now sit in fourth place after four games.

Calum’s talents are well known at Shimna. He was a mainstay of our cup-winning team at the national indoor football championships last season, finishing the tournament as top scorer with ten goals. Barry Dagen, Head of Boys PE, said, “Calum has always given 100% in Shimna colours. We are very proud of his success and look forward to seeing him progress through the ranks. He has massive potential”
