Shimna Student’s Sketch for Success

Alexandra Buzova’s name will forever be remembered alongside the likes of fashion designer Paul Costello, novelist Clare Boylan and broadcaster Thelma Mansfield.

Winning the Special Merit Award, Year 10 student Alexandra Buzova has joined the alumni of Ireland’s longest running sponsorship of the Arts, the Texaco Art Competition.

“She is unbelievably talented,” says Mrs Skelcher, Head of Art at Shimna College. Her teacher, Mrs Walsh, believes she is, “a prodigy for art,” and one to watch out for in the future.

Receiving her prize and certificate of achievement, Alexandra felt excited to have her talent recognised on a national level. “I’m looking forward to entering again, and this time for the big prize.”
