Shimna students raise funds for Ukraine appeal

Today’s non-uniform day and bun sale have raised £1,446,60, which will be donated to the Disaster’s Emergency Committee which is coordinating a response to best assist those still in Ukraine and those 2.5 million (and counting) refugees created by the war. This is in addition to the enormous efforts of Niamh and the Prince’s Trust class in gathering and donating physical aid over the past few weeks. Thanks so much to everyone who donated, fundraised, awareness-raised, baked, and wore blue and yellow to show solidarity. Thanks also to the Year 12 and 14 students who counted the money.

Over break, we also had almost 100 students sign an online petition calling on the UK Government to step up to its responsibility in taking in more refugees from this conflict. Please join the campaign - https://petition.parliament.uk/petitions/609530

We can be so proud of our students today for their citizenship.
