Shimna students Springboard to the future

Our Year 11 GCSE Food & Nutrition students attended a Hospitality Roadshow organised by Springboard NI at the Slieve Donard Hotel.

It was a great opportunity to explore the many and varied career opportunities across the sector. The programme included of a mocktail making class, sensory taste testing session, a tour of the refurbished hotel, a hospitality session including sliver service, Tourism Northern Ireland in which the students had the chance to wear VR headsets.

We also enjoyed a careers scope talk with guests including Paddy Head Chef from Millbrook Lodge, Kyle Head Chef from Slieve Donard Hotel and Lorna, Front Office Manager from the Merchant Hotel.

Mrs Forsythe said, “We had a fantastic time and, as always, our students were great ambassadors for the College.”
