We are delighted to be part of a research project with Síle Reilly, Queen’s University Belfast, exploring what nature connection means to post‑primary students and how it can be supported within school life.
Sile reported “The Year 10 students who participated were a pleasure to work with, showing enthusiasm, curiosity and excellent skills in teamwork, debating, problem‑solving and presenting. They represented the values and ethos of Shimna Integrated College wonderfully, sharing thoughtful and inclusive ideas about learning and wellbeing through nature.”
Our staff also valued the opportunity to work collaboratively with students and reflect on the role nature plays in supporting wellbeing and experiential learning across the curriculum.
A big thank you to Síle, our students and staff for their involvement. We are proud to contribute to research that will help shape meaningful opportunities for nature connection in schools across Northern Ireland.
