Ms Murphy, Head of Food & Nutrition, writes: “Yesterday, our GCSE Food & Nutrition and Sixth Form Travel & Tourism students took part in a fantastic skills workshop delivered by former student Daniel Quinn and the Hospitality and Catering training team from SkillED NI. They provide vocational qualifications through programmes, such as Apprenticeships NI and Skills for Life & Work.

Our students gained valuable hands‑on experience in a range of industry‑relevant tasks, including preparing curried parsnip soup, de‑boning and pan‑frying chicken, and crafting professional‑style mocktails. The workshop offered a real insight into the diverse and dynamic nature of the hospitality sector, showing how it encompasses far more than cooking and bar work. They also showcased the excellent training pathways available, supportive pastoral care and exceptional industry links available to young people pursuing vocational routes in Northern Ireland.

A massive thank you to the team from SkillEd NI for a great workshop.”
