Congratulations to our Sixth Form students who are celebrating their achievements on Results Day.

The results rank alongside the best in the College’s history, with almost 40% of grades awarded at A*, A or BTEC Distinction across twenty-one subjects.

Shimna students will be heading off to a variety of destinations in September, including Aberdeen, Bristol, Cardiff, Glasgow, Leeds, Liverpool, Manchester, Newcastle, Sheffield, Strathclyde, as well as Queen’s and Ulster universities. Others are moving on to higher level apprenticeships, further education or employment.

Principal Steve Pagan said: “It’s hugely satisfying to see our students rewarded for their hard work. It’s been an emotional morning, with students, staff, parents and carers sharing in the celebrations.

Most of our Year 14 students have achieved their offers today and we are supporting the handful not yet placed with their next steps.

This year group deserves particular credit, given the way they negotiated the move into our new school during the spring term. I also pay tribute to the Shimna staff who went above and beyond to support our students in their studies and their examination preparation.”
