Successful league outing for Shimna netballers

Ms Doyle writes: “The intermediate team enjoyed a great start to their league campaign today, with a convincing 13-6 win over Cookstown High School. Great teamwork and determination were shown by all the players. Attacking players Mila and Parisa provided shooters, Helen and Lucy, with plenty of goal-scoring opportunities. The defence, led by Evie and including Eve, Lucy and Mikaela, was equally strong and prevented Cookstown from scoring in the second period.

The senior team also played competitively, despite losing out 12-7. This was an encouraging start to their league campaign, which they can now build on. Strong performers included Mikaela playing centre and Emily feeding the shooters Katelynn and Lucy with a number of strong passes for goal-scoring opportunities.

The defence led by Emily, included Anna and Ciara, who did well to restrict Cookstown scoring chances.”
