Tournament success for Shimna’s table tennis prodigy

On Thursday, six of our KS3 students travelled to Grosvenor Grammar School, Belfast, to compete in the Belfast Post-Primary Regional Table Tennis Tournament. Representing Shimna were Year 8 student Gabriel, Year 9 students Reece and Darragh, and Year 10 students Leon, Robbie and Lukas. The boys performed exceptionally well throughout the day, competing with great determination and skill. Gabriel, Leon, Robbie, Lukas and Darragh all progressed to the Shield and Cup competitions.

The standout performer of the day was Reece, who demonstrated why he is regarded as one of the most promising young table tennis players in Northen Ireland. After navigating his way to the final of the Under-14 Cup competition, Reece faced the same opponent who had defeated him in last year's Ulster final. This time, however, Reece gained his revenge, producing an outstanding performance to win a thrilling match 3-2 and claim the title.

Congratulations to Reece on his fantastic achievement, and well done to all of the boys for representing the school so positively. Their performances provide great encouragement as they look ahead to the remaining competitions this year.
