Mr Hanna writes: “A week of valuable competitive experience for our U14 boys, with two well fought matches. Our boys continue to improve, year on year, with some great performances.

On Tuesday, we played Tandregree High School. Although we eventually went down 24-5, the score did not reflect how well the boys played. Captain Brady Donaghy was our man of the match, scoring our try and carrying the ball supremely well. Daniel Murray was top tackler, demonstrating an incredible work rate and physicality in defence. Leo Jordan and Porter Headley showed real attacking threat every time they received the ball, beating the first defender

It was a similar story against Rathriland HS on Thursday, with very little to choose between the teams at half time.

We scored a great try. After sustained pressure and a great offload from Conor Adair, Gerry Burns touched down in the corner. Charlie Sneddon lead by example throughout the game with his physicality and work rate. Alfie Flynn also had a great game, using his pace to get around the defence multiple times. Eshylus Murphy- Webber was solid in both defence and attack. Again, Brady Donaghy dominated defensively close to our own line, holding the attackers up and pushing them back 10 metres at a time.

Overall, the boys demonstrated a fantastic attitude. While we remain relatively inexperienced in competition, we are improving as a group which each match. There is more to come from this group.”
