Mr Dagen writes: “Shimna U16 boys played last Thursday in the semi-final of the U16 South Down Plate, the competition we won last year. The game was very even and could have gone either way. Kilkeel were the first to get the breakthrough but Shimna responded well, with Tom Heaney Sloan slotting home a well taken goal.
On the brink at half time Shimna conceded a penalty to go 2-1 down. The second half started like the first with no team giving much away. Shimna had plenty of chances to get the equaliser and came close with shots from Ben McNerlin and Leon Maguire but the could just not find the net. With Shimna pushing for the equaliser, Kilkeel pounced on a counter attack to finish the game 3-1.
Best for Shimna on the day were Max Emerson, Ben McNerlin and Tom Heaney Sloan.”
Well done to Kilkeel HS for gaining revenge for last season’s final defeat. See you again next year, no doubt.
