Ms Anderson, Head of Geography, writes: “Year 9 classes have been out and about as part of their studies in Geography over the past couple of weeks. As well as studying local coastal defences, one class took part in the Future Island-Island programme organised by the University of Ulster. Shimna was one of just six schools in Northern Ireland to take part, researching solutions to issues relating to electronic and textile waste, degradation of nature and loneliness in isolated communities. We look forward to seeing some of their ideas showcased at an exhibition in W5 later in the year.”
“Our Geographers can be very proud of their efforts.”
