Ms Mathieu, Head of ICT, writes: “Last Tuesday, Year 9 students at Shimna College explored the fascinating world of cryptography and codebreaking on as part of the CyberFirst Schools Partnership.

Paul Hanna from Belfast Met visited Shimna to lead engaging sessions for CyberFirst’s Enigma Challenge. Students took part in a range of interactive activities, including deciphering morse code and cracking Enigma-style messages, putting their logic and problem-solving skills to the test.

The day was highly engaging, with students showing great enthusiasm as they worked collaboratively to decode messages and uncover hidden information. The event provided an exciting introduction to cybersecurity concepts and highlighted the creativity and analytical thinking involved in digital technologies.

We are delighted to be part of the CyberFirst programme, inspiring the next generation to develop key skills for the future digital world.”
