More Down Championships success for Shimna athletes
Shimna’s junior athletes enjoyed another great day at the Down Schools Athletics Championships on Friday, with more of our students qualifying for the Ulster Championships. Eve finished second in the Junior Girls Hurdles; Aoife finished second in the Junior Girls 1200m walk and fifth in the hammer; and Ronan came third in the Junior Boys Hammer. Shimna student recognised as a Future Star
Congratulations to Year 14 student Maria, who has been given a Queen’s Future Stars Award for Rowing. At a special event held at Queen’s University Belfast on Tuesday 15th April, Maria is one of the distinguished group of young athletes from across the region recognised for their exceptional talent and dedication to her sport. Maria rows for both the Dundrum Coastal Rowing Club and Newry Rowing Club and has a distinguished record already, winning a Gold Medal at the Skiffie W

Students qualify for Ulster Schools' Athletics Championships
Well done to our students who competed in the Down Schools Athletics Championships yesterday. Reigning champion Evie Gorman won the Intermediate Girls Shot, Eabha was second in the Senior Girls shot while Kari qualified in two events, the 800 and 1500m. Jamie, competing against boys a year older than himself, ran in the Intermediate boys 3000m and achieved a personal best time, narrowly missing out on qualification.
