Earlier today, our Year 11 GCSE Food & Nutrition students attended a Hospitality Roadshow,organised by Springboard NI at the Slieve Donard Hotel. It was a great opportunity to explore the many and varied career opportunities across the sector. The programme included of a mocktail making class, sensory taste testing session, a tour of the refurbished hotel, a hospitality session including sliver service, Tourism Northern Ireland in which the students got to experience the V

Thanks to our Sixth Form Charity Leaders, Orla and Maria, pictured here with fellow student Faye and Assistant Vice-Principal Joanne Poland, presented a cheque to Deborah Boden from the local charity MyMy. The funds were raised through a recent Sixth Form non-uniform day, with the proceeds donated to a worthy local cause. A huge thank you to everyone who took part and for making a positive contribution to the local community.

Congratulations to Year 12 student Kari for two outstanding performances last weekend. Kari finished twelfth in the All-Ireland Schools’ Cross-Country Championships on Saturday and then going on to finish sixth in the All-Ireland U-20 Indoor 1500m Championships the very next day. Overall, a truly exceptional weekend’s work from one of Shimna’s greatest ever athletes.
