Today was the last day in our original school building. It’s served the Shimna community over the past three decades. It’s also been an emotional day, with a mixture of laughter, tears, poignant memories and a sense of excitement about what is to come. Meanwhile, work on the new school is continuing at pace. Shimna cross-country runners raced in the Down Schools Cross Country Championships on Tuesday. Held at the Billy Neil Centre, the conditions were tough but Shimna runners ran very competitively, with some excellent results. Outstanding performances included Kari 4th in the Intermediate girls; Eve 7th and Parisa 10th in the Junior Girls; and Jamie 8th in Mini Boys.
