The end of an era
Today was the last day in our original school building. It’s served the Shimna community over the past three decades. It’s also been an emotional day, with a mixture of laughter, tears, poignant memories and a sense of excitement about what is to come. Meanwhile, work on the new school is continuing at pace. Mrs Doyle writes: “A great victory for the Junior Girls today against Sullivan Upper, winning 23 goals to 13. Shimna are now through to the semi-finals of the Shield. The team trailed by three goals in the first quarter as they struggled to settle and play to their usual high level. Shimna students qualify for Ulster Cross-Country championships
Shimna cross-country runners raced in the Down Schools Cross Country Championships on Tuesday. Held at the Billy Neil Centre, the conditions were tough but Shimna runners ran very competitively, with some excellent results. Outstanding performances included Kari 4th in the Intermediate girls; Eve 7th and Parisa 10th in the Junior Girls; and Jamie 8th in Mini Boys. Junior netballers romp to NI Shield victory
Mrs Doyle writes: “Shimna had a convincing win over Grosvenor GS in the NI Junior Netball Shield, winning 26/3. Shimna will play Sullivan GS next and are just one game away from the NI Quarter Final.
