A busy few days for our Netball and Gaelic saw great performances, albeit with mixed results.

Ms Doyle writes: “We had a very enjoyable morning at St. Malachy’s HS. The Minors won their match but it was very close right to the final whistle. Star players were Zoe Astruc-Kidd, who playing as centre supplied great passes into the shooters, Amy Baker and Jane McAnallen. Isabella Mayers also had a good game and ably assisted, in the attacking play into the circle. Defence was led by Isabella Sloan and assisted by Lana McNerlin and Grace O’Hare.”

“The Juniors played competitively but St. Malachy’s were the stronger side and won the game easing ahead in the second quarter. Star players were Sophie Mayers, who played centre and was assisted in attack by Evie Sloan who had a very strong game as shooter. The defence defended well, led by Molly Magee and Mollie Murphy.”

The Minors will play St. Colmcille’s HS on Friday, hopefully continuing their winning streak.

Mr McCormick writes: "Today our U14 Gaelic footballers took the long journey to Sally gardens in Belfast to play St Killian's College in the Scaith MacNesa Quarter-Final. Shimna started brightly with a quick point from Jack White but with a swirling wind left over from Storm Bran, fluency was hard to come by against a bigger St Killian's team. The first half ended 0-4 to 0-1.

Changes were made and seemed to have an effect when captain Dara McGrath scored two goals to lead by two points, with 7 minutes on the clock. It wasn't to be though as Shimna’s resistance was broken by two late St Killian's goals. Well done to the boys for their efforts this year’s Corn MacNesa competition. There’s still plenty of Gaelic to come with Year 11 and 12 competitions still to be played."
