Shimna students put through their paces on Royal Navy training programme

Yesterday a group of our Year 11 - 14 students took a trip the Palace Barracks in Hollywood for a day of leadership training and team building with the Royal Navy.

The group first tackled a gruelling assault course of 6 and 12-foot walls, ropes and climbing - a real test of physical and mental strength to overcome fear!

After a hot meal in the canteen, we headed off for team building and some shooting in the weapons simulator.James and Matthew took charge in the Personal Leadership Task directing their group across a series of obstacles carrying emergency supplies under timed conditions. Matthew’s team were victorious finishing first and the losing team had to drop and give 10 press ups!!

We finished in the weapons simulator with Jamie Mocsari getting the title of best shot of the day with 7 hits and Emily taking the opportunity to find out more about pursuing a career as a pilot with the Navy.A fantastic day giving our students the opportunity to work together, push themselves and show that they have the power to overcome obstacles and challenges with perseverance and determination.
