Year 10 students awarded CPR-AED certificates

Earlier in the year, a hundred Year 10 students undertook a CPR and AED course, run by Raymond Shannon of REC First Aid Trainers NI. This week, Raymond presented certificates to the students in a special assembly.

Assistant Vice-Principal Anne Clarke commented: “Every minute counts during a cardiac emergency. Learning CPR and understanding how to use an AED can empower students to take immediate action and, potentially, to save lives. The message is clear: you don't have to be a doctor to save a life. Thanks to Raymond, we now have many more potential life-savers at Shimna.”

A big thank you to Raymond for the training and for donating a defibrillator trainer unit to the College.
