Our girls’ Year 8 and 9 football team did the College proud in the IFA Festival of Football, held in wintry conditions at the Donard Park ground yesterday. They were unbeaten in six games, winning five and drawing one against teams from Kilkeel, St Louis, Newry High and Dromore.

Our girls demonstrated skill, composure on the ball and great teamwork throughout. Evie McCann, Abbie McClure and Caoimhe Pagan were solid in defence and quick to bring the ball forward, while Kacie Trimble enjoyed a superb day in the nets, conceding just one goal all tournament. In midfield, Sienna Maguire and Isabella Milligan dictated the play, created chances and kept Shimna ticking. Up front, Kate Shiells dazzled with her pace and skill, scoring in most games. Abbie and Caoimhe also pushed forward to contribute crucial goals.

Well done to Isabella Milligan, who was crowned Player of the Tournament  with an unbelievable 11 goals. She received a new Northern Ireland top as a reward.
