Last weekend saw two Shimna students achieve sporting success in both England and Scotland.
Year 12 student Jamie O’Flaherty finished second in the Nottingham Holme Open Men’s 5k race, shaving over half a minute off his personal best in a time of 17 minutes 35 seconds. Jamie was also placed first in the U20 category.
Meanwhile, Year 8 student Reece Maguire continued his impressive career in table tennis, participating in the West of Scotland Championships as part of the Ulster team in both singles and doubles. He competed against a variety of opponents, including older players and a paralympic medallist.
Both boys possess talent, underpinned by a commitment to hard work, training and an admirable determination to progress in their respective sports.
