Earlier today, three Shimna students competed in the Ulster Cross-Country championships. They deserve great credit for the way they battled through heavy rainfall and icy wind at the event held in Mallusk.

Year 9 student Jamie Magee recovered well after an early fall to finish strongly in the minor boys 2.3km race in a time of 9:39 seconds. Year 12 student Jamie O'Flaherty also ran a great race in the Intermediate boys over 4.6km. He maintained a very steady pace throughout and finished 24th in a time of 15:45.

Top performer on the day was Kari Foster, Year 13, who ran another great race, finishing in a fantastic 12th place in the senior girls race in a time of 11:43 over 2.9km. Kari maintains her impressive record of qualifying for the All-Ireland championships.
