Talented Shimna Art student wins Texaco Prize for second year running

Year 11 Alexandra Buzova has been awarded a Texaco Art Competition prize for the second year running. Her entry, ‘Babicka’, was inspired by her memory of growing up in an ethnically diverse community in Slovakia.

Alexandra’s work was exhibited at a reception held at the Morrison Hotel in Dublin and she will receive her prize at the formal awards ceremony in May.

Mrs Skelcher, Head of Art, commended Alexandra on her achievement: “Alexandra is an extremely talented art student, with an incredible eye for detail. Her exceptional skill combined with focus and hard work has resulted in this success. I am delighted for her and excited to see what she does next!”

Mr Pagan said: “This is a tremendous achievement for Alexandra. We’re fortunate to have such a talented artist in our ranks.”
