U13 Boys’ Basketball earn debut victory

Our new U13 Basketball team performed brilliantly in their first ever game on Friday afternoon, defeating St Louis Grammar.

Shimna started brightly, with Levon Foran hitting two early 3-pointers to give Shimna an early lead. Shimna stayed on top for the next two quarters, with Reece Maguire, Fionn Brown, Callum McIlmurray, Jamie Magee and Ryan McCullagh all impressing.

To their credit, St. Louis did not give up the fight and roared back in the 3rd and 4th quarter to leave nothing between the sides with 30 seconds to go. Ryan McCullagh then rebounded a St. Louis shot and fed the ball up court to the waiting Jamie Magee who sank the final basket of the day, giving Shimna a two-point victory. Even then, St Louis bombarded our defence but Kaleb Poland and Ryan McCullagh protected the narrow lead.

A great match between two very evenly matched teams. Well played to the St Louis’ boys.
