One of the standout highlights this year has been the extraordinary success of Jack, a gifted student in Year 9. He was one of 23 young artists selected from more than 600,000 participants worldwide as a Merit winner in the Lions International Peace Poster Contest. The last weekend of the school year saw twenty-five Year 12 students gather in Kilbroney Forest Park to begin a three-day trek through the Mournes to Shimna. Each of the four groups tackled both challenging routes and intense heat, with hydration proving crucial throughout. Groups made their way out of Kilbroney via a mix of Ulster Way sections and higher forest paths, before passing through a checkpoint at Leitrim Lodge. Just landed home this afternoon, a group of twenty-three students and four staff spent three days in Rome on a cultural trip, taking in the sites, sounds and food of the Eternal City. The packed itinerary included a tour of St Peter’s Basilica, the Colosseum and Palatine Hill, an Italian food class and a visit to the Opera.
