Shimna students compete in County Athletics Championships
Well done to the Shimna athletes who took part in the Down Schools Championships this week. Jamie O'Flaherty, Kari Foster, Evie Gorman and Parisa Susay-Quinn, narrowly missed out on qualification for the Ulster Championships, coming fourth in the 300m, 1500m, shot and 800m respectively. Emily McMullan and Ronan Grant finished fifth in the 800m and hammer events. Abigail Turley and Michael Murray came sixth in the discus and javelin. Our junior athletes will be competing next

Sixth Form Chemist wins award in RSC Chemistry Olympiad
Mr McDonnell, Head of Chemistry, writes: “Congratulations to Daisy Williams on her fantastic achievement in gaining a Bronze award in the RSC Chemistry Olympiad. This highly competitive challenge tests problem-solving and chemical understanding at an advanced level. A brilliant result and a testament to Daisy’s hard work and dedication to chemistry. Shimna students ride the wave in YMCA programme
Last weekend, a group of Shimna students in Year 13 took part in a residential trip as part of Empower to Transform. This programme, organised by the YMCA in Newcastle, offers inclusive, group-based and outdoor learning opportunities for Shimna students. The group spent two nights at Carrowmena Old School House near Limavady, taking part in a range of activities, including catching some waves in a surfing session at Benone.
