Daisy highlights the importance of Cancer Fund for Children support

Sixth Form Debate Club considers the big issues
A new activity this year is the Sixth Form Debate Club. Founded by a group of students in Year 13, it meets after school on Thursdays in Mr Smyth’s classroom. The club explores a different topical issue each week. This week, attendees explored political, social and ethical perspectives around the motion “referendums do more harm than good.”

Year 11 boys present fundraising cheque to The Well
Earlier today, it was our pleasure to present a cheque for £1,312.05 to Sarah-Jane Campbell and Chris Smith from The Well. Last November, fourteen of our Year 11 boys made the most of our new fitness suite facilities and took on an impressive challenge: cycling 157.32 km in just over 6 hours - the equivalent of travelling from Shimna to Dublin! Indoor success at NI Athletics Championships for Shimna girls
Well done to Aoife Grant and Eve Mc Namara who enjoyed a very successful weekend at the NI Indoor Athletics Championships. Aoife finished second in the U16 1500m race walk and Eve was third in the U16 girls’ long jump. Eve narrowly missed out on a place in the final of the 200m. Both girls now go on to represent Northern Ireland in the National Indoor Championships in Athlone at the end of March.
